Sam Altman, the former CEO of Y Combinator, has joined Microsoft as its new president of OpenAI, the non-profit research company that develops artificial intelligence (AI)-powered technologies.
Altman’s appointment comes just days after OpenAI fired its previous CEO, Ilya Sutskever. Sutskever was replaced by Mira Murati, who served as the company’s chief operating officer.
Altman is a well-respected figure in the tech world, and his appointment is seen as a coup for Microsoft. Altman is expected to help Microsoft develop new AI technologies and products.
